Student of the year
Do you think you have what it takes to be this year’s number one UK Hairdressing student? or maybe you’re training them?
Then the Hair and Barber Council’s Student of the Year competition is for you. In order to take part, learners need to create a finished look and submit two photos of their model. The Level 2 entrants will be asked to dress hair in a red carpet fashion; whilst Level 3 students will be asked to cut and blow-dry an innovative style of their choice.
Once images have been submitted they will be judged by celebrities from the world of creative and inspirational hairdressing, like Jamie Stevens, Andrew Barton and Patrick Cameron.
The top eight in each level will be invited to compete at the final, which will take place usually in a central London location. On this day finalists are asked to re-create their look in a 50-minute practical session, and will then be taken through to an interview panel where they will be asked questions about the style they created. The day ends with a short presentation announcing the winners from each category.
The two overall winners will receive fantastic prizes which could include a trophy day with a leading celebrity hair professional, a business lunch with a major manufacturer or as a guest at the Hair and Barber Councils House of Commons summer event in Westminster, once Covid restrictions will once again allow.
* The entry fee is £32 per student and includes one year’s state registration once qualified (worth £35).
